John Reilly is the writer of “The Big Dance”, a feature film in development with Public House Films. Inspired by actual events, a junior bond trader on Wall Street and a NJ Turnpike toll collector find themselves in the middle of a Wall Street gambling scandal that would shake the financial services industry to its core. The story follows the time line of the 1991 NCAA men’s college basketball tournament (The Big Dance) while the pair of childhood friends from Bayonne, NJ are placed into a seemingly no win situation, caught up in a series of high stakes wagers on Wall Street.
The Big Dance was an Official Finalist in the 2014 American Movie Awards https://americanmovieawards.com/past-winners/2014
The Big Dance was named a quarter-finalist in the 2015 Final Draft Big Break Screenplay contest
John has been an executive on Wall Street for the past thirty-years and currently resides in both Charlotte, NC and Charleston, SC with his wife Sandra. The couple have three grown boys. His latest project “A Tee Time for Satan” is also based on actual events. The golf-centric script follows the escapades of a Northerner in the Bible Belt South. A heavy religious undertone persists throughout the script as the main character turns the table on the morally hypocritical group of antagonists.
